Thanks. The student told me that he had worked in IT in the past, so I suggested that he reinstall Windows.

Mike

I saw the same issue with Examplify claiming the Windows 10 computer to be a VM about two weeks ago. It was a Dell computer and it turned out that it was a badly factory install of Windows 10, because I was also having issues installing Panopto on that same computer and I had to change the folder permissions in Panopto system directories to get Panopto run (no such luck with Examsoft). The student’s computer was still under warranty and Dell did a fresh reinstall of the operating system with him and it solved the problem.

Regards,

Gary

We ran into a lot of the same sorts of Windows crashes today. The same pattern, about 2 hours in, they started coming in ones and twos. A reboot fixed the problem.

We also ran into a very pesky unsolved problem where a Windows 10 Home machine was denied use of Examplify because it claimed that the computer was running on a VM or was running a hypervisor. It has neither (it’s a Win 10 Home machine so it can’t have Hyper-V).

The student ended up using a different PC altogether, but the bug was determined to be unfixable.

Steve (and all),
I hope that it was a contracts exam, and the student wanted to expand an answer on estoppel.

We are 4 days in and 500 exams typed. Regarding tech support, not much to report. Maybe 5 students have had the shut down mid exam issue. A dozen or so Mac users freeze on exit/upload. This is resolved by re-start.

Administratively, we had students who downloaded exams with SoftTest (which didn’t expire) and I had to re-enable downloads when they installed Examplify. We also had a first this morning, a student thought the exam was over and shutdown and submitted. After realizing they had an additional 30 minutes, they wanted the exam opened. We didn’t do that.

The majority of our "issues" are students who somehow forgot to uninstall SofTest then use that software only to get stuck in exam limbo. We were under the impression that the software was no longer in use and that students had heard our pleas to remove the software.

The other set of problems exist when starting up Examplify, the students are met with an error message indicating that the application is not functioning properly and that you need to contact the administrator. A quick uninstall/reinstall of Examplify has been the go-to fix for this issue.

Thanks,
Bill

So, how has the rest of the week gone for everyone as far as Examplify is concerned?
