[teknoids] ExamSoft issue with latest MacOS update

Thanks Chad.

The touch bar issue was resolved by Examsoft almost two weeks ago, this new
issue is related to the latest MacOS update and causes freezing during
exams.

We all got the notice on Monday this week.

Mike Vogt, our Manager for Instructional Technology had been trying Monday
and Tuesday to get more detail on the problem. Late in the day Tuesday he
learned from their tech support team of the potential for 10 freezes during
a single exam.

One is not terrible, certainly not desired but more than two is scary to me.

We learned on Wednesday that ExamSoft is fully aware of all the variables
and is working post haste to resolve in concert with Apple.

For our 1L performance exam (scheduled for this morning) we, in conference
with our Academic Dean and the LRW professors, decided Tuesday night that
we couldn't do much more than just tell the students to use MS Word, save
the file as a PDF and upload to an anonymous TWEN drop box... with an Honor
Code reminder. By all accounts the performance exam went very smoothly
even with the last minute change to Word.

It is my hope (and expectation) that we will see a fix deployed well before
we have to ban Macs from the use of ExamSoft for final exams.

Here's wishing you all the best,

Phil
