[teknoids] Multivoice transcription software

We have a couple of needs. One is for a faculty member’s grant; she’ll be conducting phone interviews that will be recorded then later need transcribed to text and eventually massaged into a form that can be fed info NVivo. We’re trying to keep the cost down so while I’m aware of the various transcription services, I was hoping to throw some money at technology that could also be used to transcribe class podcasts. She’ll interview 100+ women and each interview will be around half an hour to an hour.

Have not used them yet, but saw recommendations from others. $1/min but each job is different and so YMMV.
How big is your transcription? (hours?) How many speakers (1-2 or many?) What's you output requirement? Just text or synced to a video or audio stream? All these affect the cost.

Good morning and happy Friday!
We need transcription software that will correctly transcribe multiple voices without being trained on the individual speakers. I’ve poked around at reviews and it doesn’t look like much is out there. Someone on an Educause thread said that Camtasia does a fairly good job and Dragon does not (which I’d already determined) but before testing out Camtasia, I thought I’d check with the ‘noids brain trust. Any thoughts on this?
