Without trying to get into a provider flame war, it would seem that some folks could benefit from the option of hosting the exam server onsite.

Reminds me of the time when some helpful soul dug up the fiber link that serviced the entire Malibu area ... the first morning of finals.

We had a classroom of students ready to take their first exam of the season and many had not yet downloaded the answer file (this was in the very early days of Flexsite).

With no internet connection and no clear knowledge of why, I drove down to Malibu proper and tried the coffee shops then sped down Pacific Coast Highway scanning for an open connection to the internet.  Got a bunch of wifi but no internet.  Ended up setting up shop in the Santa Monica Third Street Promenade<http://www.downtownsm.com/>, downloading the answer file then speeding back to campus.  I was a little late but not too bad.

We expect students to have the answer file well ahead of their exam time these days.

Additionally, we now have a couple of redundant connections to the internet thanks to our friends in University IT so I'm not that worried about it ... still ... you never know.

We once experienced a campus-wide internet outage when uploading exams.  Our solution was to arm our IT support staff with flash drives in order to remove the exam file off of each and every computer.  It was a pain but it worked.  Let's hope it doesn't come to that today.

Another suggestion is to use Examsoft's manual upload site should you have any issues, sometimes it works even if Softest's automatic upload isn't working.  The link is www.examsoft.com/manup<http://www.examsoft.com/manup>.

Thank you. Our first few early uploads at 12:30 were fine. It was only when all 100 of them tried to upload that the slowdown started. Our second exam ends at 5:30 so info on any delays you encounter at 4 PM would be appreciated.

We had a problem around 1 PM with uploading exams. I spoke to our rep who said the server was up but responding very slowly. It took about an hour for us to successfully upload about 100 exams. This would normally take about 15 minutes for a 1L class to accomplish.
We had no problems starting our 2L exam at 2 PM but I was wondering if anyone is uploading exams at the moment and how they are doing.
