The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks a full-time Network
Administration Specialist in the College of Law's Information Services
Department.  This academic professional position reports to the Director
of Information Services and is responsible for comprehensive computer
network support for the faculty, staff, and student users in the


The Network Administration Specialist is responsible for maintaining the
College's computer network which includes over 800 users with a mix of
desktop and laptop PC's.  This individual is also responsible for the
installation of software upgrades and maintenance and repair of computer
network equipment.  Primary duties assigned to the Network
Administration Specialist include: performing the initial diagnosis of
system problems and recommending corrective action; coordinating the
involvement of outside consultants as appropriate; system backup;
maintaining system documentation, user records, accounting, billing, and
related records for the College of Law network; liaising with users of
the College network to ensure the quality of service; liaising with
other campus computer support programs and services; and coordinating
telecommunications within the College.


The Network Administration Specialist may also be called on to lend
support with regard to audio-visual services at the College.  Typical
duties may include assisting in the setup of A/V equipment for playback
or recording, copying of A/V materials, and assisting in the setup of
A/V equipment for events at the College.


Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in an appropriate
discipline or relevant work experience and have demonstrated
organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills.  A minimum of
two years of professional experience working with computer networks is
required.  Experience with Windows-based systems, Active Directory, IIS,
Exchange Server, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP local area networking is
required.  Experience with SQL Server, Novell Netware, Linux, and
audio/video equipment is desirable.  Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience.
